Section 3

Payment Terms

Deposit

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking. The deposit reserves your departure date, guide time, ferry tickets, permits, and accommodation.

Balance

The remaining 50% balance is due no later than 30 days before the departure date. If the balance is not received by this date, Pulau Asli Tour reserves the right to release the reservation.

Accepted payment methods

  • Bank transfer (IDR or USD)
  • PayPal (fees may apply)
  • Wise / TransferWise

A payment receipt is issued for all transactions. All prices are displayed in USD unless otherwise agreed in writing. EUR pricing is available on request at the current exchange rate confirmed at booking.

Pricing

Package prices are as stated on the surf camp packages and tribe tour packages pages at the time of booking. Prices are per person, based on the group size and package tier selected. No hidden fees.

Section 4

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing via WhatsApp or email. The following policy applies:

Guest cancellation

  • 45 or more days before departure: 50% of the deposit paid is refunded, minus any bank transfer or payment processing fees incurred. The remaining 50% of the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Less than 45 days before departure: The deposit is fully non-refundable. Ferry tickets and permits are booked and paid at that stage and cannot be recovered.
  • Balance (if already paid): If the full balance has been paid and cancellation occurs 45+ days before departure, 50% of the deposit portion is refunded. The balance amount paid beyond the deposit is refunded in full, minus processing fees.

Travel insurance strongly recommended. Pulau Asli Tour is a small direct-booking operator based in remote Indonesia. We cannot absorb last-minute cancellations the way large platforms can. Comprehensive travel insurance — including trip cancellation, remote medical evacuation, and adventure activities cover — protects both you and the local community you were coming to support.

Force majeure — guest cancellation

If a guest cancels due to a force majeure event, all payments are non-refundable. This applies regardless of how close to the departure date the cancellation occurs. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers force majeure cancellations. Contact Andrian on WhatsApp as early as possible.

Rebooking

Guests who cancel within 45 days may rebook for any available future departure date within 12 months at no rebooking fee, subject to availability and written confirmation from Andrian.

Pulau Asli Tour cancellation

In the rare event that Pulau Asli Tour must cancel a trip for operational reasons (excluding force majeure events, which are governed by Section 8), all payments received are refundable in full or credited toward a future date — guest's choice.

COVID-19 & health emergencies

Cancellations due to government travel restrictions or medical emergencies are handled case by case. Contact Andrian as early as possible — we will always look for a fair solution, including rebooking options.

Section 5

Changes to Bookings

Date changes requested more than 45 days before departure are accommodated at no charge, subject to availability. Changes requested within 45 days are treated as a cancellation and rebooking under the cancellation policy above.

Changes to package type (e.g. upgrading from Affordable to Premium surf camp) are possible subject to availability and price difference. Downgrades within 30 days of departure are not eligible for a price reduction.

Section 6

Health, Fitness & Medical Requirements

Pulau Asli Tour packages take place in a remote, tropical environment. Guests are responsible for assessing their own fitness and health suitability prior to booking.

Recommended precautions

  • Consult a travel doctor 4–6 weeks before departure regarding vaccinations (typhoid, hepatitis A/B, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis) and malaria prophylaxis.
  • Arrange travel insurance that covers remote area medical evacuation and adventure activities.
  • Inform Andrian at booking of any significant medical conditions, allergies, or mobility limitations.
  • Bring a personal first aid kit and any prescription medications for the duration of the trip.

Pulau Asli Tour provides basic first aid on all trips. In the event of a medical emergency, evacuation is by speedboat to Padang. No hospital is located on Siberut Island. Guests with serious pre-existing conditions should discuss suitability with their physician before booking.

Dietary requirements

Inform Andrian of vegetarian, vegan, or allergy requirements at booking. Mentawai cuisine is based on sago, seafood, and forest foods. Adjustments can be pre-arranged but options are limited in remote tribal villages.

Section 7

Liability & Responsibility

Pulau Asli Tour operates in remote jungle and ocean environments. By booking a trip, guests acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of adventure travel in a remote tropical location, including but not limited to: difficult terrain, strong ocean currents, wildlife encounters, extreme weather, and limited medical facilities.

Pulau Asli Tour is not liable for

  • Personal injury, illness, or death arising from participation in activities.
  • Loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings.
  • Ferry delays or cancellations by third-party operators (Mentawai Fast or other carriers).
  • Changes to the itinerary required due to weather, sea conditions, community decisions, or other circumstances beyond our control.
  • Failure of guests to meet health, fitness, or documentation requirements for travel to Mentawai.

Pulau Asli Tour takes every reasonable precaution to ensure guest safety and wellbeing. All required permits (government and tribal chief level) are secured before every trip. Guides are experienced Siberut Island natives with 15+ years field experience.

Section 8

Force Majeure

Pulau Asli Tour is not liable for cancellation or modification of any trip caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity, flooding, epidemic or pandemic, government travel restrictions, port closures, civil unrest, or community-imposed access restrictions.

In force majeure situations, all payments are non-refundable. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers Force Majeure events. We will communicate changes as early as possible via WhatsApp.

Section 9

Guest Code of Conduct

Pulau Asli Tour is built on genuine relationships with Mentawai communities. Guests are expected to:

In tribal villages

  • Follow all instructions from Andrian and local guides at all times.
  • Ask permission before photographing or filming community members, ceremonies, or sacred objects.
  • Dress modestly (covered shoulders and knees in villages).
  • Respect gender protocols and sleeping area arrangements.
  • Accept offered food as a sign of respect — inform Andrian in advance of dietary restrictions so alternatives can be arranged.
  • Do not touch sacred objects, enter restricted areas, or conduct rituals without invitation.

In all environments

  • No illegal substances.
  • No disrespectful or aggressive behaviour toward guides, community members, or other guests.
  • Leave no trace — carry out all waste.
  • Do not interfere with wildlife.

Pulau Asli Tour reserves the right to remove any guest from a trip without refund if their behaviour endangers others, violates community trust, or breaches these conditions.

Section 10

Travel Documents & Permits

Guests are responsible for ensuring they hold a valid passport and any required visa for entry into Indonesia. As of 2026, most nationalities receive a 30-day visa on arrival (VoA) at Indonesian international airports, extendable to 60 days. Confirm your nationality's current requirements before booking.

Pulau Asli Tour secures all Mentawai-specific permits — including the government tourism permit and the tribal chief (kepala suku) approval — as part of every package. No additional permit action is required from guests.

Section 11

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Any disputes arising from a Pulau Asli Tour booking will be resolved first by direct negotiation with Andrian Salis. Pulau Asli Tour is committed to fair resolution for all guests.

For questions about these terms, contact Andrian via WhatsApp (+62 851-6575-6942) or email ☏ +62 851-6575-6942 pulauasli@gmail.com.
